BAGUIO CITY – Starwood Hotel, the hotel located nearest to the Baguio City General and Medical Center (BCGMC) has offered its facilities for the temporary lodging requirements of frontliner medical staff of the medical facility which is at the forefront of this city’s battle against the threats posed by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
City Administrator Bonifacio Dela Peña said the owner of the hotel allowed the free use of its unoccupied rooms by medical staff of the BGHMC.
He said the owner learned of the difficulties being encountered by some of the frontliners in going home due to the suspension of operation of the public utility vehicles, thus, he made the offer.
City Health Officer Dr. Rowena Galpo said this would be a big help as BGHMC staff have been attending to the bulk of patients under COVID-19 watch.
"Since the available rooms are also limited, it will be on priority basis to be decided by the management of BGHMC," Galpo said.
Mayor Benjie Magalong expressed the city's gratitude for the hotel's generosity which he says was crucial in these critical times.
