Grijaldo is new Cebu City chief of police

CEBU CITY — The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has a new chief.

Police Col. Hector Grijaldo on Friday replaced Police Col. Engelbert Soriano, who was named as the new chief of the Human Resource Doctrine Development (HRDD) of the Police Regional Office (PRO 7).

“This is just part of the organizational routine. The chief of the HRDD has already applied for a non-duty status since he is retiring so there was a vacancy that has to be filled in,” said PRO 7 director Police Brig. Gen. Albert Ferro.

Soriano assumed as Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) chief last December. Grijaldo was the chief of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion.

Ferro said Grijaldo has to match or surpass what Soriano accomplished as CCPO director.

“Under Soriano, CCPO has a lot of accomplishments in the campaign against illegal drugs, illegal gambling and loose firearms,” said Ferro.

Ferro also instructed Grijaldo to strictly enforce the protocols that the city implemented after it was placed under a general community quarantine due to the coronavirus disease-2019 outbreak.

“He (Grijaldo) should not be complacent in the anti-criminality efforts and in the implementation of the quarantine protocols,” Ferro added.
