Geely introduces Azkarra Hybrid

32020geely1 Geely Philippines is taking a bold step in making hybrid technology mainstream in the country. Just six months after its entry into the Philippine automotive industry, Geely is introducing the Azkarra Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV), which offers more economic, dynamic, and comfortable driving experience. This next generation compact SUV is powered by a 1.5-liter turbo-charged gasoline engine complemented by a 48V belt-starter generator (BSG) integrated on the Front-End Accessory Drive (FEAD) of the engine. It’s connected to a 48V-12 DCDC converter, 48V lithium-ion battery module and battery management system (BMS). To continually charge this battery as the vehicle is running, it includes a recuperation braking system and a hybrid module control system. 32020geely2 The integration of the mild hybrid technology allows the vehicle to have various electric vehicle functions. This include intelligent start and stop, where the system cuts the ignition when engine power is not needed, such as during traffic or waiting time, coasting or when braking. Another feature is Smart Sailing, where the engine automatically turns off during coasting at a high speed, provided that the power from the battery is sufficient to keep it moving. Finally, there’s also Energy Recycle, where the vehicle captures energy using regenerative braking. During braking or decelerating, the car’s kinetic energy is captured, converted, and stored as electrical energy in the batteries. “Hybrid and electric vehicle technology is becoming increasingly popular in the auto industry. This is where the future is heading to. 2020 is definitely going to be a landmark year for Geely in the Philippine automotive market as it steps up its game, with the introduction of the MHEV,” said Sojitz G Auto Philippines Corp. Coming from the Coolray’s market success, SGAP is confident that the new SUV, the Geely Coolray’s big brother, will also be welcomed in the country’s market given the exciting styling, luxurious interiors, and smart vehicle technologies incorporated in it. Geely is now conducting a pre-selling campaign for the Azkarra with a PhP100,000 incentive as savings from the SRP and free comprehensive insurance for every reservation.
