Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo also made the top of the list after his infamous remark, “walang namamatay sa gutom” (no one will die from hunger during the month-long community quarantine) trended in social media with matching memes.
Panelo was actually misquoted in this context. The Manila Bulletin has Panelo’s full quote below:
“Walang namamatay sa gutom. Kahit isang buwan hindi ka pa mamamatay. Hindi ba sinabi na natin yung ating social services department meron nang hinanda na mga packages. Daan-daang libo na nga ang naka-ready sa kanila. Yung mga packed goods? Marami tayong naka-ready." (No one dies from hunger. Even if it is one month, you will not die. Didn’t we say that our social services department has prepared packages. Thousands of packed goods have been readied. We have many supplies.”
It was Monday this week when Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri entered the board of top trending topics as he tested positive to COVID-19.
Last, but definitely not the least, #frontlinersPH made the Top 10 in Social Media Trends in the Philippines this week as we salute all the people who continue to save lives and keep us all safe – the doctors, nurses, ER, and medical staff.
