Eleazar tasks police commanders to initiate community info dissemination on community quarantine

By Aaron Recuenco Police commanders especially in Metro Manila and nearby areas were tasked to initiate a massive information dissemination on the guidelines of the community quarantine. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar, deputy chief for Operations of the Philippine National Police and concurrent commander of Inter-Agency Task Force COVID Seal, said the move is to educate people on the guidelines if certain areas are placed under community quarantine. "Every commander has the responsibility to disseminate the information for the people to fully understand," Eleazar said. The official made the order amid what appears to be confusion and a lack of understanding among the people roaming around and entering Metro Manila. During his inspection on Monday, Eleazar noted that social distancing is not properly being observed especially in border control areas of Metro Manila. Social distancing is one of the essential measures being implemented to contain the spread of COVID-19. "The people themselves must know the guidelines in order for themselves to comply,  this is the part that information dissemination is essential," Eleazar said. He then instructed all policemen manning the border control areas to be more strict regarding the entry of persons, stating that failure to do so would defeat the purpose of the community quarantine. Eleazar said through information disseminatin, there would be less hassles in the implementation of the guidelines as people themselves would initiate measures to comply on their own. Eleazar also appealed to the public to cooperate and understand the real intention on why border control is being strictly implemented.
