Checkpoints set up at Calabarzon boundaries with Metro Manila

By Danny Estacio  CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – With the start of the 30-day community quarantine in Metro Manila, the Police Regional Office in Region 4-A (PRO 4-A) has established 44 coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) inter-agency control checkpoints in the boundaries of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon, or the Calabarzon area, with the National Capital Region (NCR). These checkpoints were placed at toll plazas of the South Luzon Expressway, Calabarzon major roads, and the national highways in Cavite and Rizal. PRO 4-A personnel were placed at checkpoints along Daang Hari in Bacoor, Junction in Kawit, and Gregoria in GMA Cavite, while in Rizal province these were established in Don Mariano Rodriguez, Maybancal, Morong, and Hilltop Sampaloc in Tanay. Checkpoints were also established along the boundaries of Quezon province and Bicol region. Some 349 members of Calabarzon police were joined by the members of Armed Forces of the Philipines , Bureau of Fire Protection, Department of Health, and representatives from the Local Government Units in the effort to secure the community, maintain peace and order amid the COVID-19 crisis. PRO 4-A Director Police Brigadier General Vicente D Danao, Jr. appealed for the understanding of the public and called on their cooperation with authorities so that there will be no panic and confusion. "Huwag po tayong maging pasaway at manatili lamang nakasubaybay sa mga impormasyong i-aanunsiyo ng mga otoridad upang maiwasan ang pagkalat ng nasabing virus," he added.
