The Las Piñas City government will declare a state of calamity next week in an effort to fight the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the locality.
Jimi Castillano, chief of the city’s Public Information Office, said that after the declaration of the state of calamity, Task Force COVID19 – created by Mayor Imelda Aguilar – will convene to set guidelines in helping the city residents.
Likewise, Aguilar will ask the City Council to immediately enact an ordinance imposing curfew hours in the city from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. in support of the Metro Manila Council resolution, Castillano said.
He also said that the city government will also come up with guidelines on the temporary closure of malls and other establishments to public gatherings.
The PIO chief said that chokepoints were already set up in anticipation of the start of the community quarantine at 12 midnight. These chokepoints are at the boundary of Las Piñas to Bacoor in Zapote; Daang Hari in Las Piñas to Muntinlupa City; and Daang Hari (going to Bacoor), which will be totally locked down.
