The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Friday has indefinitely suspended the number coding scheme for private and public vehicles following President Duterte’s order placing Metro Manila under a "community quarantine."

"Number coding (Private and Public vehicles) is now lifted starting this hour until further notice," Assistant Secretary Celine Pialago, MMDA spokesperson, told reporters.

She said the suspension will be indefinite as the agency and other concerned departments will have to assess the situation on a day-to-day basis.

"We will announce if the number coding scheme will be imposed again," Pialago added.

President Duterte on Thursday night raised the country’s alert level to Code Red Level 2 due to the reported community transmission of the COVID-19.

Duterte also suspended land, air, and sea travel to and from Metro Manila from March 15 to April 14, 2020.
