IMUS CITY – Health authorities here have cleared six patients under investigation (PUI) for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection after tests showed them to be negative of the dreaded disease.
Cavite remained CoVID19-free with the six PUIs cleared.
Imus Councilor Adrian Jay C. Advincula, chairperson of the Committees on Health and Sanitation and Education, confirmed that the six PUIs have been cleared, as per the report of City Health Officer Dr, Randy L. Calingasan.
"There were six PUIs that have been cleared as reported to me by Dr. Calingasan," Advincula told this reporter.
The Cavite provincial and local health offices and the Provincial Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (PESU) have been monitoring the situation in the area since the national COVID-19 alert was raised two months ago.
The six cleared in Imus were among the reported 24 PUIs in Cavite province who underwent 14-day quarantine last month. The 18 others were also found negative after the tests made and observation on them.
Cavite, a first-class province with eight districts comprised of seven cities and 16 municipalities, is the country's most densely populous province.
The province is a prime tourist destination with numerous historical sites and scenic spots. It has also a big number of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) residents and foreigners working in the area.
The anti-COVID-19 task forces in the cities and municipalities have been monitoring the situation in their respective areas.
Meanwhile, the local council in Imus approved an ordinance that will create the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) to check on CoOVID-19 and other virus-related issues in the city.
The proposed ordinance, authored by Advincula, was passed unanimously by the city council during the Monday, March 2, session.
