NAGA CITY—Many came to pay their respects and say goodbye to teacher Salvacion Gerona, mother of Vice President Leni Robredo, at the Eternal Chapel and Mortuary here on the last night of her wake.

Gerona’s family led by Robredo received friends, guests, and their fellow Naguenos at the chapel where her coffin surrounded with flowers was placed for public viewing.
One of those noticeable was the wreath from President Duterte, who was not able to visit the wake because of his busy work schedule. Senators and Cabinet members also sent their flowers.
Robredo made it a point to attend to all those going to the wake and thank them personally for paying their respects to her late mother. She was accompanied by her two daughters Aika and Tricia.
The vice president’s siblings Malou and Antonio flew back home from the United States and Canada, respectively. Robredo’s youngest daughter, Jillian, also came home from abroad.
A mass was held at 3 p.m. on Friday, but there was no eulogy. Universidad de Sta. Isabel’s Stradivarius instead performed a few song numbers while a video of Gerona’s photos with her family was played in her memory.
Gerona, who was fondly called “Mommy Sally” worked as a teacher at the Universidad de Sta. Isabel before she died on February 22 at age 83.
She was buried Saturday at the Eternal Memorial Gardens after a 3 p.m. funeral mass at the Peñafrancia Basilica Minore in Naga City.
