Eastern Visayas still has 5 PUMs – DOH

By Restituto Cayubit  PALO, Leyte – The Department of Health in Regional 8 (DOH-8), based in this town has reported five remaining persons under monitoring (PUM) for the COVID-19 acute respiratory disease in Eastern Visayas. DOH-8 Assistant Regional Director Dr. Exuperia B. Sabalberino told reporters in a press conference at the DOH-8 regional office that, as of February 28, DOH-8 was still monitoring the remaining five PUMs in Eastern Visayas. Sabalberino said that the Department of Health in Eastern Visayas for health development is continuing its efforts in containing and monitoring the cases of person under investigation (PUI) and person under monitoring (PUM) in the region. She reported that, “as of February 28, 2020, Eastern Visayas remains free from COVID-19 infection. No patient under investigation is admitted nor isolated in the referral hospital and the remaining five persons under monitoring (PUM) are closely monitored and still in home quarantine, one from Southern Leyte and four from Leyte province.” She added that a total of 18 PUIs were reported in the region, but all of them have already been cleared and declared negative for COVID-19. Moreover, 25 PUM were recorded in the region. At present there are three hospitals in Eastern Visayas that are prepared for COVID-19 which include the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center, based in Tacloban City; Eastern Samar Provincial Hospital, in Borongan City, Eastern Samar; and Western Leyte Provincial Hospital in Baybay City, Leyte, she said.
