LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Provincial police have yet to determine if the cases of dead bodies found dumped in different places in the province were victims of salvagings.
Two weeks ago, three decomposing bodies were found in different locations in Tubao, Benguet, then a few days later, two other remains were retrieved by the police in separate areas in the municipality of La Trinidad.
Then just last Thursday, February 27, Kagawad John Danglipen of Barangay Puguis, La Trinidad alerted the personnel of the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station about another body discovered in a ravine in Mount Costa at Sitio Lamtang, Puguis.
The barangay official said that while farmer Joseph Aguindang was walking along the road of the area, he saw a shoe beside the road, prompting him to look for the other pair in the dumping area for refused vegetables and vegetable peelings and trimmings. There he saw a person lying face down on the ground.
Later that day, police investigators processing the crime scene were approached by taxi driver Dominador de la Cruz Jr. that the dead man was his co-driver Johnny Rabang.
The taxi which Rabang was driving was found parked along Longlong Road at Barangay Puguis.
According to de la Cruz and the operator, they were able to track the taxi unit via GPS.
While another cadaver was discovered at Lamut, Barangay Beckel, La Trinidad. Barangay Beckel Kagawad Gred Aniban and Barangay Patrolman Anselmo Diamas were conducting a patrol, and were checking on what they taught was a lump of garbage dumped into a ravine when they instead found a lifeless nude body.
Police are still investigating the possible motives of the killings.
On February 11 and 12, 2020, three decomposing bodies were discovered at three locations in the municipality of Tuba. It might be remembered that October last year, eight decomposing bodies and skeletal remains were retrieved from a ravine at Poyopoy, Tuba, Benguet.
