(KEVIN TRISTAN ESPIRITU / MANILA BULLETIN) “Kahapon, nagkaroon kami ng pagkakataong parangalan ang mga atletang Pasigueño na nanalo sa iba't-ibang kompetisyon (Yesterday, we had the chance to recognize Pasigueño athletes who won in various competitions),” Sotto said. “Nakatanggap din sila ng cash incentives (They also received cash incentives from the city government).” Among those recognized were 2019 SEA Games gold medalists Philip Delarmino (muay Thai), Paul Marton dela Cruz (archery), Rachell Anne dela Cruz (archery), Juan Alvaro Macasaet (baseball), and Juan Paolo Macasaet (baseball). The local government of Pasig also lauded silver medalists Ryan Jakiri (muay Thai) and Robert Galon (muay Thai), as well as bronze medalists Adam Bondoc (karatedo) and Donnie Arth Navarro (fencing). Aside from the exemplary athletes, Sotto said the local government also honored coaches whose athletes won medals in the 2019 SEA Games. Coaches Anthony Santos (softball), Ronelon Pagkalinawan (softball), and Reignrose Esquierra (muay Thai) also received cash incentives from the city government. The mayor said individual gold medalists received P75,000 cash, individual silver medalists, P50,000, and individual bronze medalists, P25,000. Gold medalist athletes in team sports and coaches each received P10,000. Sotto told the Manila Bulletin that the amount given to the athletes and their coaches was based on the approved amount stated in an ordinance recently passed by the city council. The 30th SEA Games athletes were honored after the traditional flag-raising activity at the City Hall grounds on Monday. “Congrats again to our SEA Games 2019 medalists,” the mayor said in a Facebook post. Pasig City has also recognized two athletes who competed in the 2019 Singapore Asia Pacific Arts Festival recently. Sotto said Hana Yshin Ranchez, who won two gold medals and a silver medal in various categories for rhythmic gymnastics, received a P35,000 cash incentive, while Jennica Rose Jose, who bagged two gold medals for her solo performance in the rhythmic gymnastics category and small group contemporary, received a P25,000 cash incentive. Christy Ariola, both athletes' coach, received an incentive of P25,000, the mayor said. On the other hand, two teams and their coaches that ranked first place in the recent TOT baseball tournament each received P2,000 cash incentives, while the team and their coach that placed second in the event each received P1,000.
