It was the 64th Malasakit Center to be put up in the country, and the first in Lanao del Sur.
The Malasakit Center is a one-stop-shop where indigent patients can easily access and process financial and medical assistance through different government agencies, Philhealth, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in one place.
Go was joined by Senators Migz Zubiri, Maria Imelda Josefa Marcos, Francis Tolentino and Ronald Bato Dela Rosa.
Marawi Mayor Majul Gandamra acknowledged that his city was one of the beneficiaries since this Malasakit center became a law.
As such, it will be able to provide medical assistance to the poorest population of the city in partnership with other government agencies such as DSWD.
Dr. Shalimar Sani Rakiin, chief of Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC) said she was confident that her dream that APMC will be able to serve all its patients without the need of out-of-pocket payment upon discharge will now become more sure and clearer with the establishment of the Malasakit Center.
APMC received an initial fund worth P5million pesos and P5 million pesos monthly accordingly.
"In behalf of APMC and our dear patients, we are truly thankful of your presence today and for bringing to us a Malasakit Center. We accept the responsibility of bringing quality healthcare to all patients regardless of ranks, status, race and religion", said Rakiin.
Rakiin is convinced that, with the enactment of the universal health care law, and the establishment of Malasakit Center, “ang ordinarying mamamayan ay di maiiwan sa pangkalusugan (the ordinary citizen will not be left behind in terms of health needs).”
She urged indigent patients to visit the center by saying: "Huwag kayong matakot pumunta sa ospital kung wala kayong pera, sa Malasakit Center kayo ay makakasiguro na makapagsisilbi kami ng kumpleto (Don’t be afraid to go to the hospital just because you don’t have money. The Malasakit Center will make sure that we can serve you well)," Rakiin added.
