Motorists, residents and businessmen welcomed the re-opening of the bridge, putting an end to years of grueling travel through a by-pass road that links the towns of Baliuag and Bustos.
The re-opening of the bridge would also be timely with the Bustos town fiesta set this coming Sunday.
According to Engr. Henry Alcantara of the second engineering district of the Department of Public Works and Highways the bridge was opened for all kinds of vehicles, and would considerably ease traffic in the area.
Present during the inauguration and blessing of the bridge were Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando, and Bustos Mayor Francis Albert "Isku" G. Juan and Bulacan Provincial History, Arts, Culture, Tourism Office (PHACTO) head Dr. Eliseo Dela Cruz.
According to historians, Bustos was politically and religiously a part of Baliwag before it became a separate parish after a tragic incident that led to its separation and granting of the name Bustos.
