Mild quake shakes Cagayan de Oro City

BUTUAN CITY - A mild earthquake jolted Cagayan de Oro City early Thursday morning, Feb. 13, 2020, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

In its bulletin, Phivolcs said a 2.5 magnitude tremor was registered at 12:05 a.m.

The epicenter was plotted only 12 kilometers (km) southeast of that frontier and capital city of Cagayan de Oro, in Misamis Oriental province.

The tremor had a shallow depth of only 5 km, it said.

No aftershock alert was raised by the state agency.

The tremor was tectonic in origin, Phivolcs said.

In its instrumental intensity, Phivolcs said Intensity I was registered at the heart of Cagayan de Oro City.

The Northern Mindanao Office of Civil Defense and Cagayan de Oro Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported no damage or injury.
