Jaro appointed CHED executive director

Lawyer Cinderella Filipina Benitez-Jaro was appointed as the new Executive Director of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Commissioner Prospero De Vera III announced Wednesday.

Jaro was appointed by President Duterte, replacing dismissed CHED executive director Julito Vitriolo.

Prior to her appointment, Jaro served as officer-in-charge for the Office of the Executive Director of CHED from July 2018 to present, concurrent with her position as Director of the Legal and Legislative Service since May 2017.

Apart from her current designations, she also represented the Commission in the Cabinet Assistance System, Dangerous Drugs Board, National Chemical, Biological, and Nuclear Team, Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission, among others.

According to De Vera, Jaro also chairs numerous technical working groups (TWGs) that were "created and convened to work on planning the implementation of policy directions given by the Commission En Banc and the Philippine Government as a whole."

With her new post as the Executive Director, Jaro will serve as the head of the Commission Secretariat and will oversee the overall implementation and operations of the CHED Central and Regional Offices.

Aside from these, she is also tasked to monitor all central and regional offices of CHED, making sure that all units are pursuing a common road map, consistent with the Commission's reform agenda and strategic plan.

Jaro finished her Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration at the University of the Philippines and her Bachelor of Laws in New Era University.
