Retired Army sergeant nabbed for selling drugs in North Cotabato

By Joseph Jubelag GENERAL SANTOS CITY - Government’s anti-narcotics operatives arrested Thursday a retired Army sergeant in a drug bust operation in Aleaosan, North Cotabato. Naravy Duquiatan, regional chief of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, said the suspect, Roger Caputolan, was nabbed after he sold shabu to a PDEA poseur buyer in Barangay New Panay, Aleosan town. The suspect yielded several grams of ‘shabu’ and a .45 caliber pistol when accosted and arrested by PDEA agents. Caputolan was formerly assigned with 27th Infantry Battalion based in Matanog, Maguindanao until his retirement in 1998. Duquitan said the suspect has been under surveillance the past months by PDEA agents for his involvement in illegal drug trade prior to his arrest. Charges for selling and possession of illegal drugs were filed against the suspect. Meanwhile, PDEA has cleared the 136 villages of the seven municipalities of Sarangani and declared drug-free during a provincial anti-drug abuse council meeting at the provincial capitol in Alabel, Sarangani. Jerome Valentos, PDEA provincial chief for Sarangani, said PDEA was still conducting drug clearing operations in the remaining five barangays in the towns of Kiamba, Maitum, Malapatan and Glan where there was reported presence of high-value drug personalities listed under inter-agency drug information data base.
