This was the message highlighted as the RTN paid a courtesy call on Rear Admiral Giovanni Carlo Bacordo, newly designated PH Navy Flag Officer in Command, at the Navy headquarters in Manila.
Lieutenant Commander Maria Christina Roxas, acting director of the Naval Public Affairs Office, said the Thai Navy contingent was led by Vice Admiral Chanint Phadungkiat, director of Maritime Enforcement Operations Command Center (Thai-MECC).
"In order to promote stability, protection and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region, the
Philippine Navy is firmly committed to continuing and further enhancing its commitment to strengthen ties and friendship with other regional navies," Roxas said.
According to Roxas, a warm reception was accorded by the Navy chief to the visiting Thai delegates.
Further, the Thai Navy delegates also visited the PH Navy's Maritime Research Information Center (MRIC), Roxas added.
Bacordo, who assumed the top Navy post on Monday, said he will prioritize the modernization not only of the sea service's assets but also its personnel and bases.
Equipping the personnel with a modern mindset and upgrading the naval bases, Bacordo said, will enable the Navy to adapt to the current modernization program of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
