(DCCCII) President John Carlo Tria aims to promote the business community in Davao City further as part of his programs this year. Davao City Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Inc. (Davao Chamber Facebook / MANILA BULLETIN) Tria issued such statement during the 52nd Annual Installation of Officers and Board of Trustees of the DCCCII on February 4, Tuesday, at the Marco Polo Hotel. Tria vowed that the economic gain in the last three years will push them forward to more growth. He said the 52nd installation of DCCCII officers and board of trustees reflected the effect of the booming business sector of the city and the whole Mindanao to the country’s economic growth in the next years. Since 2016, Tria said, stronger national leadership and improved peace and order has helped bring three straight years of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth far surpassing the country’s own, and that of the global average. The Davao region’s economy has grown by 8.6 percent for a value of about P400 billion in 2018, while the Mindanao island has grown about 7 percent for the last two years, beating expectations and inspiring interest. “The developments such as the changing landscape of Davao where new master-planned communities have begun construction and hotels will see completion is an indication of broader growth that is to come in the next three years,” Tria said. In line with this, the chamber also launched its 2020 theme“Building the Advantage, Moving Forward,” which Tria said various programs covering policy advocacy, business promotion and capacity building, with programs are meant to strengthen the business community of Davao.
