Around 180 motorists were apprehended for violating traffic laws and ordinances on Tuesday in Makati City, the local government said.
Makati’s Public Safety Department (PSD) said its personnel have caught a total of 182 motorists for illegal parking, cutting trips, illegal terminal, and for violating the tricycle ban on highways
The motorists, PSD said, were apprehended along J. P. Rizal corner Makati Ave., Yakal St., Emilia St., Bautista St., Filmore St., Edison St., EDSA Magallanes, Malugay St., Talisay St., Jupiter St., Bernardino St., Dela Rosa St., Pasong Tamo Extension, Malolos St., and A. P. Reyes St.
The local government said PSD personnel conduct clearing operations every day to maintain orderliness and cleanliness in Makati.
In 2017, Mayor Abigail “Abby” Binay ordered the intensified drive against illegal parkers, sidewalk vendors, and other road obstructions.
Makati residents were urged by PSD to report violators of the anti-illegal parking policy, vendors, and other road obstructions using the Makatizen App or to My Makati Facebook page.
The local government said among the features of the Makatizen App is the Maka-SOS button, enabling the user to contact emergency hotlines with just one click in case of fire, crime or any emergency situation.
Also, it allows the user to upload a video or picture of crime incidents or emergencies to the City’s Command Center, which has the power to immediately dispatch the police, ambulance and members of the Makati PSD.
