DAVAO CITY – Operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 11 and the Talomo Police Station here arrested a couple and confiscated P226,000 worth of illegal drugs from them in a buy-bust operation Tuesday night.
RPDEU 11 chief and Talomo Police Station commander Lt. Col.Ronald Lao identified the suspects as Arlene L. Brigole, 46, resident of Kabacan, Sto. Niño, Brgy. 76-A Bucana, Davao City; and her live-in partner, Edilberto S. Parilla, 57, a resident of Purok 1, Barangay 31-D, Bonifacio Extension. Lao said the two were known as big-time drug pushers, and were listed under the Directorate for Intelligence Watchlist.
The operatives conducted the buy-bust operation against the suspects in Sto. Nino, Barangay 76-A at around 8:40 p.m.
The police seized from the possession of the suspects 20 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 16 gram, P3,500 buy-bust money, cash, and other personal items.
Lao said Brigole was previously arrested for selling illegal drugs last November 8, 2012 and released through plea bargaining agreement last November 2019.
Meanwhile, Parilla was also arrested for selling and possessing drugs last June 20, 2011 and was freed through plea bargaining agreement on October 2018.
"In fact, we were the same team who collared him (Parilla) in 2011 during my stint then as Chief of Police of Sta. Ana Police Station," Lao said.
"We have received reliable information that these people were selling (drugs) again. It seems like they didn't learn their lessons the first time, second time," he said.
"These two people are sad examples of persons who were given chances at life but yet opted to make another poor life decision. I am giving those drug addicts and pushers a fair warning to mend their ways and make dramatic change in life by putting a stop to their illegal activities or else they will be targets of our anti-illegal drug ops. So, it is never too late for any person to turn their lives around," Lao added.
The suspects will be charged for violation of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
