The Philippine National Police (PNP) identified the first victim Alain Muller, who was shot and killed in Cuartero village of Jaro district around 12:05 p.m.
Then at 12:11 p.m., Delfin Britanico was also killed in Nabitasan village of La Paz district.
According to Police Master Sergeant Arniel Villarante of Jaro PNP, Muller was standing by the road when a silver SUV pulled over and from which a gunman emerged and peppered him with bullets. The 42-year-old Filipino-American was taken to the nearest hospital, but succumbed to gunshot wounds.
Police Master Sergeant Alme Gabawa of La Paz PNP said the 36-year-od Britanico was riding his motorcycle when he was shot. Britanico was taken to the hospital, but also died.
Authorities are puzzled as to the motive of the killing of two men minutes apart. However, the Jaro PNP disclosed that Muller was a drug personality who surrendered to authorities at the height of the crackdown on both illegal drug pushers and drug sellers.
The twin daylight murders come a week ahead of this year’s Dinagyang Festival.
