BIR to taxpayers: Use electronic payment facilities

By Jun Ramirez  The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is urging taxpayers to settle indebtedness through various electronic payment facilities. "Remitting taxes online is hassle-free and easy as evidence by increasing number of individuals and corporations using the electronic payment system since 2018," he said. Records showed that more than half of the P2.1 trillion collection last year were remitted via the innovative debit/ATM/credit cards and mobile payments. Aside from the electronic Filing and Payment System (eFPS), the bureau has provided five additional options for tax payments. These are mobile payment through GCash, Landbank Link.biz Portal, DBP Pay Tax Online System, Unionbank Online and PesoNet Landbank Link.biz Portal. Next month the BIR expects to enlist the services of PayMaya. PayMaya is an app that gives users a virtual prepaid card to shop online, pay bills and send money.
