BIR reshuffling key officials to boost chances of meeting P2.5-trillion collection target

Twenty-one regional directors and district officers of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) have been reshuffled in preparation for this year's tax campaign to raise P2.5 trillion.

(MANILA BULLETIN) BIR Commissioner Caesar Dulay is expected to sign more travel assignment orders to boost the chances of hitting the collection target. One of those given important job was Tuguegarao City Regional Director Clavelina Nacar who was promoted assistant commissioner for collection service. Other regional directors transferred were Josie Virtucio to Tuguegarao City; Joseph Catapia to Davao City; Ricardo Espiritu to Laguna-Quezon-Marinduque; Dante Aninag to Cagayan de Oro City; Rozil Lozares to Legaspi City; Esmeralda Tabule to Iloilo City; and Nuzar Balatero to Koronadal City. Likewise, Linda Grace Sagun was assigned to Sta. Cruz, Manila; Emilia Combes to City of San Fernando, Pampanga; Aldo Esmena to Malabon-Navotas; and Dennis Floreza to Masbate City. Earlier, President Duterte and Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez expressed satisfaction over the BIR's collection performance last year raising more than P2.1 trillion. The take represented more than 93 percent of its collection assignment of P2.3 trillion or P221 billion more compared to the actual collection in 2018. The BIR generated more than 12 percent tax collection effort ratio against the gross domestic product, the highest since 2015.
