Police Colonel Roland Vilela, chief of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), said the arrests represented significant gains made on both crime prevention and solution.
“These wanted persons have the potential to commit another crime; hence, their arrest could prevent them from doing another problem,” Vilela added.
Of the 781 arrested, 58 were in the PNP’s most wanted list in the municipal, provincial and regional level. They were facing various criminal cases such as murder, homicide, rape, robbery, theft, or physical injury.
Aside from the 781 arrested, there were 12 others who voluntarily surrendered to authorities.
For this year, Vilela has standing orders to pursue “more aggressive operations” in arresting the remaining wanted persons.
“Our fellow Ilonggos can expect that law enforcement operations will be relentless to make our province free from illegal activities and wanted persons,” Vilela added.
For the first week of the year, PNP units under IPPO have already arrested 18 wanted persons.
