Seven Filipinos affected by the massive fire in Maldives capital city Malé were all safe, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) through the Philippine Embassy in Bangladesh reported Sunday.

"The Philippine Consulate in Malé is closely monitoring the situation." the DFA said.
The fire broke out in a warehouse stored with chemicals in a residential area in Henveiru Ward, Malé Friday night, Maldives Independent reported.
A 49-year-old woman died and more than a hundred people have been displaced from their homes, the report added.
Witnesses heard loud explosions from the warehouse before flames spread to other buildings and engulfed the apartments.
Firefighters tried to extinguish the fire for hours as the area was engulfed in thick smoke and massive plumes rose high above the island.
