The newly-installed chief of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) vowed to punish cops involved in illegal activities during his stint.

"Misfits and illegal behavior in the organization has no place in our ranks. We shall not be involved in any illegal activities that would conflict our duties as a public servant," Police Colonel Ronnie Montejo said in his speech during the change of command ceremony at the QCPD Headquarters in Camp Karingal on Tuesday.
Montejo also encouraged his men to perform their duties well and carry their "100 percent best to serve the public without fear or favor."
In his speech, the new QCPD director issued a warning to his police officers that they will be punished if found out breaking the law.
"As your new district director, I will make sure that your good deeds will be rewarded, while those who will break the chain and violates the law will be punished," he stated.
"I vow to do my best to serve you all and to keep Quezon City a quiet and peaceful city," Montejo added.
Montejo, who was the former Deputy District Director for Administration (DDDA) of the Northern Police District (NPD), formally assumed QCPD's top post during a turn-over ceremony presided by NCRPO chief Major General Guillermo Eleazar.
He replaced Brigadier General Joselito Esquivel who served as the QCPD director for 17 months and now appointed as the new Regional Director of Police Regional Office 13 (CARAGA Region).
Montejo belongs to the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Tagapagbuklod Class of 1989.
He was also the former Provincial Director of Laguna Police Provincial Office in 2016 and was assigned in QCPD as chief of District Special Weapons and Tactics (DSWAT) in August 2013 and chief of District Operations and Plans Division (DOPD) in November 2008.
He served as the commander of QCPD's Cubao, Batasan and Novaliches Police Station in 2013, 2011 and 2007, respectively.
Montejo was also a former station commander of Sogod and Catmon im Cebu City and the deputy and executive officer of Cebu City Police Office in 1993.
