The labor department is studying the situation in Hong Kong to see whether or not there is a need to impose a temporary deployment ban there.

"In the meantime, we have an advisory to our OFWs there to avoid areas where there is a demonstration or protest actions," he added. Bello also revealed that they are already monitoring the case of the OFW who was arrested Saturday by Hong Kong authorities in Mong Kok district. "We are monitoring his case," he said. "Actually, he was not part of the protest action. He was suspected to be part of the protest and arrested," added Bello. The labor chief expects the evaluation to be concluded in the coming days. "Within the week, we will probably find out some developments," said Bello. According to reports, the OFW was arrested for allegedly joining the protest action for democratic reforms.
