Duterte appoints new DOJ undersecretary vice Naealla Bainto-Aguinaldo

By Jeffrey Damicog A new undersecretary has been appointed to the Department of Justice (DOJ), said spokesman and Undersecretary Markk Perete Tuesday (July 30). Department of Justice (MANILA BULLETIN) Department of Justice (MANILA BULLETIN) “President Duterte has appointed Juliana Gaviola Sunga as Department of Justice Undersecretary,” Perete told reporters. Perete disclosed that Malacanang released her appointment papers just this Monday. “Before this appointment, Ms. Sunga was with the Commission on Audit,” he noted. The Department of Justice (DOJ) is set to replace one of its undersecretaries who got elected as a party-list representative. Earlier, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said a new undersecretary will be appointed to replace Bahay party-list Rep. Naealla Bainto-Aguinaldo who left her post at the DOJ following her party-list’s win in the May 13 elections. Guevarra noted Aguinaldo’s office at the DOJ was in charge of administration, finance, budget, procurement, and funding. Recently, Malacañang appointed lawyer Benedicto Malcontento to head the DOJ’s National Prosecution Service (NPS) as prosecutor general. The new prosecutor general is an alumna of President Rodrigo Duterte’s alma mater, the San Beda College of Law.
