PNP develops data server for anti-drug operations

By Marie Tonette Marticio  HINUNANGAN, Southern Leyte - To prevent misinformation and reporting discrepancies, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has developed an integrated information system for recording information about anti-illegal drug activities. Brig. Gen. Samuel Rodriguez, director of Information Technology Management Service (ITMS), said the Drug Related Data Integration and Generation System (DRDIGS) is the first homegrown information system developed for anti-illegal drug operations. The data server was first tried out in 2015 in Police Regional Offices 5 and 8 in collaboration with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). "The system was developed through the collaboration of different directorates of the PNP involved in anti-illegal drugs such as intelligence and operations. It is a centrally managed database in Camp Crame cascaded to regional offices, which can be used up to the municipal station," he explained. He added that with a single click, reliable and accurate reports on data related to illegal drugs nationwide can be generated. Rodriguez said that when the system is implemented nationwide by the end of July, the PNP and DILG can share uniform information of records including monitoring, rehabilitation, filing of cases. The system also includes Drug Offenders Profiling System (DOPS) as well as those who were neutralized from the start of Oplan Double Barrel in 2016.
