Witnessed by their family, city officials, guests, and supporters, Francis and Ronny’s oathtaking was administered by Senator Panfilo Lacson at the Filoil Flying V Arena.
“Nasasabik na makatrabaho ang aking ama (I am excited to work with my father),” Francis said in his 22-minute speech.
“Malaking bagay na magkakampi ang mayor at ang congressman. Hindi lamang magkakampi, mag-ama pa (It is a big thing that the mayor and the congressman are allies. Not just allies, but father and son),” he underscored.
The younger Zamora is the first city mayor who is not a member of the Ejercito-Estrada clan since former senator and San Juan Mayor Jinggoy Estrada was elected into office in 1992.
Francis defeated Jinggoy’s daughter, former Vice Mayor Janella Ejercito Estrada in the May 13 polls.
On the other hand, this will be the last term as San Juan lone district representative for the elder Zamora, who, according to Francis will retire from politics when his term ends in 2022.
“Siguradong magiging maayos ang aming samahan at tayong lahat ang makikinabang (It is guaranteed that our partnership will go smoothly and all of us will benefit),” he added.
Francis also vowed that San Juaneños will have a government they can trust.
“Bawal ang kurapsyon sa ating adminstrasyon (Corruption is not allowed in our administration),” he said.
