Unbeaten squads in PBL semis

by Jonas Terrado Unbeaten teams Katayama Baseball Academy and Thunder All-Star closed in on securing semifinal berths after winning their respective matches in the Philippine Baseball League (PBL) Open Conference at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium. KBA downed Ateneo, 7-1, while Thunder rolled past RTU-Alums, 8-1, to score their third straight win in the league organized by the Philippine Amateur Baseball Association. Meanwhile, national team hurler Vladimir Eguia fanned eight batters while La Salle-Zobel standout Sean Salvatierra homered in the second inning to lead Thunder’s triumph. In the other game, Adamson downed Rizal Technological University, 8-5, for its second win in three outings.
