Caloocan barangays declared drug free

By Dylan Afuang Sixteen barangays in Caloocan City had been declared drug-cleared by a committee composed of various government agencies, the city government announced Wednesday. The National Capital Region (NCR) Regional Oversight Committee is composed of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Health (DOH), and the Philippine National Police (PNP). The committee declared the following barangays as drug-cleared: 1, 41, 42, 47, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 58, 68, 76, 91, 100, 104, and 158. "This achievement was made possible because of the unflagging efforts of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils, the Philippine National Police, and the City Government of Caloocan..." said Anti-Drug Abuse Office head of the city Atty. Sikini Labastilla. Last April 2019, the committee also cleared barangays 51, 57, 60 and 138 from the list of drug-affected barangays, the city government said. In addition to the nine other barangays earlier certified by the committee, (13, 44, 48, 61, 62, 80, 96, 103, and 146), this brings the total number of drug-cleared barangays to 29, the second-highest in the NCR, they added.
