By Jun Ramirez Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents have arrested a convicted American felon wanted by federal authorities in California for violating his parole by fleeing to the Philippines.

Bureau of Immigration (MANILA BULLETIN) BI fugitive search unit (FSU) chief Bobby Raquepo identified the captured fugitive as 44-year-old Ricky Masanque Sanchez, who was arrested Thursday afternoon at his residence in San Vicente, Tarlac City. Raquepo said his men were armed with a mission order from BI Commissioner Jaime Morente who issued the same at the request of the US Embassy in Manila. It was learned that a superior court in Santa Clara, California ordered Sanchez’s re-arrest on September 2017 after it was confirmed that he had fled to the Philippines a month earlier in violation of the terms of his parole. According to information from US authorities, Sanchez had been convicted of attempted murder but was later released on supervised parole. Prisoners freed on parole supervision in the US are normally required to regularly report to their parole officer and prohibited from leaving him their state without permission. Investigation revealed that Sanchez has been hiding in the country since August 18, 2017. “When we received information about his crimes from US authorities about four weeks ago, we immediately conducted a case buildup to pinpoint his location,” said Raquepo. He will immediately be flown back to the US as soon as the BI board of commissioners issues the order for his deportation.
