(ARMAN BAYLON/PRESIDENTIAL PHOTO / MANILA BULLETIN) In the nationwide survey conducted last March 28-31 among 1,440 respondents, 81 percent of Filipinos were satisfied, 10 percent neither satisfied nor dissatisfied, and 9 percent dissatisfied with the general performance of the current administration. This translates to a new record-high net satisfaction rating of +72 (percent satisfied minus percent dissatisfied), classified by SWS as “excellent.” It is six points above the “very good” +66 (76 percent satisfied, 9 percent dissatisfied) in December, 2018, and two points above the previous record of excellent +70 in December, 2017. SWS attributed the five-point increase in the national administration’s overall net satisfaction rating to increases in all areas. It rose from very good to excellent in the Visayas, from +63 in December, 2018 to +74 in March, 2019; stayed excellent in Mindanao from +75 to +81; remained very good in the rest of Luzon from +65 to +68; and also stayed very good in Metro Manila, from +60 to +65. Rural net satisfaction with the national administration rose from very good to excellent, from +65 in December, 2018 to +72 in March, as urban net satisfaction also rose from very good to excellent, from +68 to +71. Likewise, net satisfaction with the national administration rose from very good to excellent in class D or the masa, from +65 in December, 2018 to +72 in March. It stayed excellent in upper-to-middle class ABC, hardly moving from +72 to +73. But it declined from excellent to very good in the poorest class E, from +70 to +68. By sex, it rose from very good to excellent among men, from +69 to +73; and among women, from +64 to +71. By age group, it rose from very good to excellent among 18-24 year olds, from +64 to +80; among 35-44 year olds, from +67 to +75; and among 45-54 year olds, from +68 to +75. It stayed very good among 55-year-olds and above, from +63 to +67. But it declined from excellent to very good among 25-34 year olds, from +71 to +67. By educational level, net satisfaction with the national administration stayed excellent among college graduates, from +73 to +77. It rose from very good to excellent among elementary graduates, from +67 to +73, and among high school graduates, from +65 to +71. It stayed very good among non-elementary graduates, from +64 to +68. Also in the same survey period, in the SWS governance report card, it found that out of 11 specific performance subjects rated, net satisfaction ratings of the Duterte administration were excellent on one subject, very good on two subjects, good on seven subjects, and moderate on one subject. The net satisfaction rating of the national administration was excellent on helping the poor for a new record-high +72 (from +68 in December, 2018). It was very good on reconstructing Marawi City (from +60 to +58) and fighting terrorism (from +55 to +58) Meanwhile, it was good on: fighting crimes (from +44 to +48), reconciling with communist rebels (a new record-high +45), reconciling with Muslim rebels (from +39 to +44), eradicating graft and corruption (from +42 to +41), foreign relations (from +38 to +41), defending Philippine sovereignty in the West Philippines Sea (unchanged at +40), and ensuring that no family will ever be hungry (from +28 to +37).
