A total of 35, 242 individuals had participated in the various job and business fairs of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) during the recent observance of Labor Day.
The DOLE reported that 4,304 individuals were immediately hired, "while 21,593 were considered hired, but still need to submit additional or lacking requirements, or may need to undergo further interviews, trade test, or examination."
The labor department said that the "top five occupations with the most number of hired on the spot" were production worker, service crew, assembler, production operator, and cashier.”
The DOLE organized various job fairs in 31 sites across the country last Labor Day.
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III expressed gratitude to different local and overseas employment companies who participated in the activities.
“We are grateful to our employers who participated. Their involvement made the job fair massive and a big success. We are equally thankful to our partner agencies in the TNK (Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan) and BBB (Build, Build, Build) programs for the successful undertaking," Bello said in a statement.
