DAVAO CITY – As expected, former Special Assistant to the President and now senator-elect Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go obtained the highest number of votes in Davao City among the senatorial candidates.
Based on the city canvass report released by the Board of Canvassers (BOC) at the end of canvassing at 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Go garnered 533,197 votes or 83.86 percent of the 635,806 voters of the city’s three congressional districts.
Former Philippine National Police director Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa came second highest with 518,425 votes; comebacking Senator Pia Cayetano, 448,291; re-electionist Cynthia Villar, 445,443; former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chair Francis Tolentino, 400,001; re-electionist Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, 384,483; incumbent Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos, 366,760; re-electionist JV Ejercito, 322,537; re-electionist Koko Pimentel, 297,231; Dong Mangudadatu, 297,133; comebacking Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., 239,785; and Jinggoy Estrada, 225,109.
Atty. Krisna Samantha Caballero, Davao City Election Officer and BOC chairman, said the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) reported a voter turnout of 64.57 percent, although that was lower from their target of 70 to 80 percent.
