22 hurt after SUV hits bus

By Glazyl Masculino BACOLOD CITY - At least 22 people were injured after they figured in a collision at Barangay Sampinit, Bago City, Negros Occidental Wednesday. Police Lt. Leonel Adolacion, deputy chief for operations of Bago City Police Station, said 19 of the 22 victims were passengers of a Ceres Liner bus. Also wounded were bus driver Rolando Sondia, 46, of Kabankalan City, and SUV driver Ramel Emilanan, 31, of Bacolod City. All victims sustained minor bruises and wounds. Adolacion said the accident happened when Emilanan, who was reportedly speeding, allegedly lost his control over the vehicle and collided with the bus, which was running in the opposite direction. The bus driver tried to avoid the collision by swerving the vehicle but it fell on the canal. Emilanan was on his way to a construction site from Bacolod City when the accident happened. Vallacar Transit Inc. has already extended assistance to the victims while a settlement is ongoing.
