Burmese python appears at wake; captured

By Alexandria San Juan  A 12-foot long Burmese python was found by residents slithering from a creek in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City early Tuesday. (Mark Balmores) According to Francis Palamos, 35, he was manning the wake of his father outside their house at 2nd Street, Kalayaan B in Barangay Batasan Hills around 3:30 a.m. Minutes later, he spotted a white and yellow Albino Burmese python coming from a nearby creek and moving towards them. This prompted Palomos and his relatives to capture the python measuring about 12-foot long and turned it over to the Quezon City Police Station 6. Authorities immediately brought the python to the Quezon City Wildlife Center. Experts said the species are not poisonous but are constrictors, meaning they can coil around their prey and kill them through constriction or strangulation.
