CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – Chief Supt. Gilberto DC Cruz, regional director of Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) personally joined his men in providing security coverage to the officials and personnel of the Commission on Election (Comelec- Caraga Region 13) as they started removing all illegal campaign materials or those placed beyond designated areas during an “Oplan Baklas” operation on Tuesday.

“As part of the election security for midterm elections, we are tightening our security since January 13 until June 12 in all election-related activities like Oplan Baklas so our stakeholders will feel safe and secured," Cruz said.
He said the PRO 13 will implement the rules set by Comelec and urged the candidates to follow all the guidelines like the placing of campaign materials only in the designated areas.
Based on the Comelec resolution, the common poster areas shall be allowed by the election officer only in selected public places such as plazas, markets, barangay centers and the like where posters may be readily seen or read, with the heaviest pedestrian and/or vehicular traffic in the City or Municipality,” Cruz said.
Comelec 13 Regional Director Atty. Francisco Pobe thanked Cruz for personally leading his men in implementing the laws, rules, and regulations in relation to the mid-term election on May 13, 2019.
