Parañaque, Anshan are now sister cities

The Parañaque City Government has agreed to enter a sisterhood agreement with the City of Anshan, Liaoning Province, People’s Republic of China to boost their relations and promote sharing of best practices in good governance.

The friendship between the two cities was sealed by Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez and Vice Mayor Gao Lin, Anshan Municipal People's Government, held at the city hall recently.
Also present during the formal signing were Su Xiaofeng, Deputy Secretary General, Anshan Municipal People's Government; Zhang Jing, Director, Anshan Municipal Commerce Bureau; Li Bing - Section Chief, Anshan Municipal Commerce Bureau; Zhang Nina, Vice Section Chief, Interpreter, Anshan Municipal Commerce Bureau, Paranaque City Administrator Ding Soriano and PIO chief Mar Jimenez.
As provided in the MOU, a sisterhood tie can create opportunities for mutual growth since both cities share similar environmental protection and tourism endeavors.
Other objectives include providing for better cooperation in conducting reciprocally planned and sanctioned programs geared towards the improvement of government administration, tourism, cultural preservation, environmental protection, education, technology, arts, and the holding of various endeavors mutually beneficial to both parties.
Officials of the two cities will maintain an open line of communication through focal persons who would promote the programs and initiatives relative to the sisterhood agreement. There will be constant exchanges of invitations during the celebrations of special holidays and festivals to further enhance cultural ties.
Like other sister cities of Parañaque, Olivarez said he is confident that the agreement would further raise the profile of city as one of the most exciting and fastest growing cities in the country.
“This agreement between our city and Anshan City would surely work both ways even as we expect that this would pave the way for a greater and broader cooperation not only between our cities but hopefully for the two countries as well,” he explained.#
