Faithful urged to sponsor 'Simbang Gabi' masses

By Christina Hermoso Caritas Manila, the social action arm of the Archdiocese of Manila, is urging the Catholic faithful to help rebuild the churches that were damaged by the recent earthquakes in Cotabato by sponsoring the “Simbang Gabi” masses.

(CARITAS MANILA / MANILA BULLETIN) Caritas Manila said the proceeds from donations will help repair the damaged churches in the province. “As we embark on a nine-day devotional journey in commemorating the birth of our savior Jesus Christ, we appeal to your hearts to offer “Simbang Gabi” masses for the benefit of church repairs in Cotabato that were destroyed by earthquakes and aftershocks,” Caritas Manila said. The affected churches include the Santo Nino de Cebu Parish in Makilala, the San Isidro Labrador Parish Rectory, the Our Lady of Mediatrix of All Grace Cathedral Rectory, the St. Joseph the Worker Parish, the Holy Family Parish Bulakanon and the San Miguel Archangel Quasi-Parish, among others. The Diocese of Digos in Davao del Sur earlier said, six churches in the province were damaged by the strong earthquake that struck the province last Sunday. (Christina I. Hermoso)
