FDA warns public vs. 5 unregistered food products

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned the public against buying five unregistered food products.

The FDA named the unregistered food products as Mayon Treats Special Butter Cookies, Berton's Pilinut Candy and Pastries Mazapan de Pili Bar, Delpagran Original Chili Garlic Oil, DWS Food Product Brown Rice Brew, and Mayon Treats Premium Pili for the Gods.

The FDA advised consumers not to purchase the said products.

"Since these unregistered food products have not gone through evaluation process of the FDA, the agency cannot assure their quality and safety," the agency said in its advisory no. 2019-490.

"The consumption of such violative products may pose health risks to consumers," the FDA said.

"The public is advised to always check if a food product or food supplement is registered with the FDA," it added.

The FDA noted that its website, which is accessible at www.fda.gov.ph, has a ‘Search’ feature which may be used by typing in the name of the product before purchasing.

The agency also warned concerned establishments not to distribute the said products until they "have been issued the appropriate authorization."
