(Photo courtesy of MCDRRMO / MANILA BULLETIN) “We enforced pre-emptive evacuation to prepare our constituents,” Erwin Alfonso, chief of the Muntinlupa City Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office (MCDRRMO), told the Manila Bulletin. The families live along Laguna Lake in Muntinlupa or coastal areas that cover eight barangays in the city. They are now staying in covered courts, public schools, barangay hall, and church. Of the total, 230 families are in Barangay Alabang, 192 in Cupang, 140 in Poblacion, 100 in Sucat and 40 in Poblacion as of 6 a.m. of Dec. 3. Each evacuation center has modular tents. The families are being assisted by barangays which received disaster funds from the city government in addition to their own budget for calamities. As of 8 a.m. of Dec. 3, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Metro Manila is under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 with “61-120 km/h winds prevailing or expected in 24 hours” together with Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Bulacan, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, southern Aurora (Dipaculao, Maria Aurora, Baler, San Luis and Dingalan), Rizal, rest of Quezon including Polillo Islands, Calamian Islands (Coron, Busuanga, Culion, Linapacan), Cuyo Islands (Cuyo, Magsaysay and Agutaya), Zambales, Pangasinan, Northern Samar, Aklan, Capiz, Northern Antique (Caluya, Libertad, Pandan, Sebaste, Culasi and Tibiao), and Northern Iloilo (Carles, Balasan, Estancia, Btad, San Dionisio, Sara, Concepcion, and Lemery).
