Military bishop lauds hero cop

Florencio (WIKIMEDIA COMMONS/ MANILA BULLETIN FILE PHOTO) The prelate said Police Senior Master Sergeant Jason Magno should be commended to "great merits" for his supreme sacrifice. "He should be commended to great merits for having saved the lives of others especially the students," Florencio said in an interview. But the prelate said the incident should also serve as a lesson to the public to be vigilant. "We should always be on guard because we don't know the circumstances of others who might have some depressions that will resort to these suicidal acts," said Florencio. "We need to act together so that we can prevent scenarios like that," he added. PSMS Magno died when he covered a grenade with his own body to save innocent civilian lives. The Philippine National Police also lauded Magno of Initao Police Station in Misamis Oriental who they said: "truly lived up to his sworn duty, to serve and protect even if it costs his life."
