Aviation authority needs more surveillance officers

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) will be launching its Communication Navigation Surveillance System Officer’s Course batch 42 (CNSSO 42) and Airfield Lighting and Power Technician’s Course batch 12 (ALPT 12) this year to recruit young and competent men and women who aspire to be part of the country’s elite line of air navigation officers and technicians.

In support of the International Civil Aviation Organization’s New Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) initiative, the country’s civil aviation authority has been working towards ensuring that there are enough qualified and competent professionals who will maintain the future of the country’s air transportation system.

Accepted applicants will undergo three months of training for ALPT and nine months of training for CNSSO at the Civil Aviation Training Center (CATC) in Merville, Pasay. Once employed by CAAP, the officers will receive a monthly salary of P16,758 for ALPT and P51,155 for CNSSO.

CAAP’s Human Resource and Management Division (HRMD) has released the list of qualifications and documentary requirements for aspiring air navigation officers and technicians, which includes:

A. Qualification Requirements:
– natural-born citizen of the Philippines
– Not more than 26 years old on January 18, 2020 (for CNSSO applicants)
– At least 20 but not more than 28 years old on March 14, 2020 (for ALPT applicants)
– Physically, mentally, and psychologically fit
– Of good moral character
– With no criminal or administrative case
– Has not been dishonorably separated from government or private service
– With 20/20 vision, without corrective lenses, and not color blind

For CNSSO applicants: Bachelor’s degree holder of Electronics and Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aeronautical Engineering.

For ALPT applicants: Completion of two-year studies in college, preferably with a mechanical, electrical, or electronics course, or high school graduate with relevant vocational/trade course
– Career Service Professional (CSP) or R.A. 1080 (for CNSSO applicants)
– With 20/20 vision, without corrective lenses, and not color blind

B. Documentary Requirements:

1. Communication Navigation Surveillance System Officer’s Course
– Duly accomplished application forms
– Diploma (authenticated copy);
– Transcript of Records (authenticated copy)
– CSP Eligibility Certificate or R.A. 1080 (authenticated copy)
– Birth certificate (photocopy)
– NBI Clearance (original copy)
– Two pcs. 2”x2” photo (colored picture with white background)

2. Airfield Lighting and Power Technician’s Course
– Transcript of Records for two-year studies in college and a copy of diploma together with relevant vocational/trade course certificate for high school graduates (authenticated copy)
– Birth certificate (photocopy)
– NBI Clearance (original copy)
– Two pcs. 2”x2” photo (colored picture with white background)

Application forms are available at the CAAP website (www.caap.gov.ph) or at the HRMD, CAAP Central Office, MIA Road, Pasay City.

The deadline of application submissions is on or before 5:00 p.m. on Jan. 10, 2020 for the CNSSO course and March 6, 2020 for the ALPT course. Applications may be submitted in person or via mail/courier to the HRMD, CAAP Central Office, or at any CAAP Testing Centers.

Nationwide examinations will be held simultaneously on Jan. 18, 2020 and March 14, 2020 for CNSSO and ALPT respectively, at the CATC in Pasay City and designated testing centers in Baguio, Tacloban, Davao, and Zamboanga.
