Mayor Joy Belmonte made the declaration to allow local residents more leeway to comply with government regulations more conveniently.

Usually, Belmonte said the concerned parties have to file a leave from work just to obtain their occupational permits during weekdays.

Belmonte said it was just the beginning in the city’s efforts to make the life of the transacting clients in the processing of permits and other important documents at city hall more orderly and less corrupt.

“Malaking ginhawa ito dahil maaari na nilang gamitin ang libreng oras tuwing Sabado para makakuha nito (This is a big comfort since they can now use their free time during Saturdays to secure thes things),” Belmonte said.

According to Business Permit and Licensing Department (BPLD) head Margie Santos the service will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Saturday.

“To avail of the service, residents need to bring the complete requirements including their laboratory results from accredited testing centers for issuance of health permit/card plus their latest NBI or police clearance,” Santos said.

Santos stressed its necessary for local residents to bring complete requirement as they won’t be entertained during the special Saturday schedule. HIV Awareness Seminars will also be conducted onsite.

Other requirements include Residence Certificate, Yellow Card for entertainers/therapist, waivers for PRC holders, Parent’s Consent for minors and Alien Employment Permit (AEP) for foreigners.

For employees below 18 years old, requirements include parental consent, birth certificate/baptismal certificate, valid ID of parent/giving consent.

By next year, Santos said BPLD-QC will be offering one-stop shops for occupational permits at a company's location, provided that the company has 300 or more employees.

“The company simply has to request the BPLD in writing to avail of the service,” concluded Santos.
