By Erma Edera  After Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso issued a warning that those who will be caught vandalizing public spaces will be made to lick their work to wipe off their writings, cultural group Panday Sining struck anew, soiling the walls of Araullo High School in Manila this time. (MANILA PIO / MANILA BULLETIN) The new graffiti spray paint on the school’s wall came a day after Moreno tried to remove graffiti on a telecom box near the Manila City hall using paint thinner but failed. Some of the graffiti, painted in red read: “Aktibista, hindi terorista – PS” and Makatwiran ang maghimagsik– PS." Officials from  Araullo High School expressed their disappointment after seeing the vandalism on the walls of their school. According to Science Department Head Rosanna Nilo, the youth should learn how to take care of their surroundings. "Isang paglalapastangan sa paligid ito kasi ang Mayor natin nagsisikap na maayos ang Lungsod," she said. "Nakakalungkot kasi kahit sa paaralan gusto namin na maganda, mahikayat ang mga magaaral na makapag aral nang mabuti. Kasi kung maganda at maaliwalas ang paligid nila, maayos sila makakapag aral," Nilo said. "Sana magkaroon ng realization  ang mga kabataan na ito na hindi maganda yung nakagawian nila na hindi napapahalagahab ang pag aayos ng paligid nila," she added. On Tuesday afternoon, students from Araullo High School volunteered to clean and repaint the walls of their school. It can be recalled that the newly-painted Lagusnilad underpass was vandalized with messages of protest written by the same cultural group. The local government of Manila has an existing ordinance against vandalism known as the Ordinance No. 7971 or the Anti-Vandalism Law of 1999. Any person caught violating the ordinance will pay a fine of not less than P1, 000 but not more than P5, 000 of not less than six months nor more than one year or both such fine and imprisonment at the discretion of the court.
