Transcend releases new USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C Hub

Published Nov 18, 2019 12:00 am
TS-HUB5C_SideR Transcend has announced the release of its latest USB Type-C equipped hub, the HUB5C. This versatile 6-in-1 hub expands the functionality of new MacBook, iPad Pro 2018, Type-C laptops, and Type-C mobiles by providing additional USB-C and USB-A ports for data transfer, a PD charging port, and both an SD and a microSD card slot, all from just one USB Type-C connection. While new devices trend minimalist and provide fewer ports, demands for multi-functionality are increasing. Transcend’s HUB5C offers multi-taskers a simple yet powerful solution to limited port counts. The HUB5C features a USB Type-C connector at the end of a sturdy, durable cable; a USB Type-C port equipped with the USB 3.1 Gen 2 interface for up to 10Gb/s data transmission; a Type-C 60W Power Delivery charging port; two Type-A ports with the USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface for legacy devices; a UHS-II compliant SD card reader; and a UHS-I compliant microSD card reader. The HUB5C is the first USB Type-C hub on the market to feature the USB 3.1 Gen 2 interface for data transfer rates at up to 10Gb/s, or twice that of USB 3.1 Gen 1. According to Transcend, when the HUB5C is paired with Transcend’s ESD350C – its speediest PCIe-based portable SSD – phenomenal data transfers of around 1,000 MB/s can be achieved. This makes the HUB5C ideal for unleashing the full transfer power of devices and peripherals, ensuring lightning-fast file transfers between peripherals and the latest laptops and mobiles. HUB5CPR_1181x1181 The HUB5C’s Type-C charging port meets USB PD 3.0 standards and allows for up to 60W power pass-through, meaning users can connect their laptop manufacturer's charger to the port, or use any power bank that supports the USB PD protocol. The HUB5C can further act as both an SD and a microSD card reader with dual card slots that support UHS-II and UHS-I standards, respectively. This means that after finishing a photoshoot, users can simply take out the SD or microSD card, and access files directly from their laptop or mobile devices. With all its impressive features, the HUB5C manages to remain lightweight and easy-to-carry, a hassle-free accessory to boost productivity. Transcend offers a comprehensive range of USB Type-C products featuring the Type-C port or connector, including external hard drives, portable solid-state drives, USB flash drives, and card readers. These devices allow for easy and efficient file transfers between desktops, laptops, and Mac computers featuring the USB Type-C or USB 3.1 interface, and mobile devices supporting the OTG (On-The-Go) function.
